What you will see at the Thailand fitness boot camp

Attending the original Chiang Mai Thailand fitness boot camp gives you an incredible opportunity to visit the most culturally significant city in the north of the country, Chiang Mai.

Attracting over five million visitors each year, it is no surprise that Chiang Mai was included in the 2012 TripAdvisor list of ‘25 Best Destinations in the World.’

This increasingly modern city is accessible, beautiful, creative and teeming with culture and history; what better place to kick start your fitness regime and set yourself on a path to good health.

Chiang Mai boasts over three hundred temples, called ‘wat,’ some dating as far back as the thirteenth century.

Temple tours are a great way to view the city, with some of Chiang Mai’s

numerous nearby national parks offering wonderful views across the region.

What’s more, hiking up the mountains and climbing temple steps are excellent ways to meet your exercise goals and continue the good work you started at your Thailand fitness boot camp.

A particular favorite with tourists is the Elephant Nature Park, around an hour’s drive north of the city and home to around thirty rescued elephants. Trekking and hill-tribe tourism are also popular. The cultural experience doesn’t stop at the temples and elephant park, however, with superb shopping opportunities to help you find the perfect present for those back home.

Perhaps most famous of all is Chiang Mai’s night bazaar that spreads across a number of city blocks taking in sidewalks, plazas, buildings, and even temple grounds. Weekend craft markets and food markets often see the city centre become fully pedestrianized, making it a joy to stroll the streets in search of beautiful and unique gifts and local food. Chiang Mai is a phenomenal place to visit, full of exuberance and creativity, so much so that there are rumors of a UNESCO Creative City application in the works. Add to your workout and fitness retreat schedule by incorporating a little dancing at one of the many festivals in Chiang Mai, guaranteed to make your time in northern Thailand’s largest city a memorable one.

Loi Krathong (Yi Peng) is a festival that usually falls in November and which sees thousands of people coming together to float banana-leaf boats (krathong) filled with flowers and candles along the city’s many waterways. These krathong are a way of worshipping the Goddess of Water and are often accompanied by sky lanterns that, according to local legend, help rid the town of troubles by carrying them off into the night sky.

Other festivals include a celebration of the Thai new year, Songkran, held in mid-April and which has become a major tourist attraction. Songkran in Chiang Mai is a sight to behold, the city-wide water fight shows the good humour and sense of fun shared by the local residents and the parades and beauty competition add to the enjoyment.

February in Chiang Mai is peak time for temperate and tropical flowers to emerge and the three-day Chiang Mai Flower Festival is a stunning spectacle for visitors. Average temperatures in Chiang Mai rarely drop below twenty degrees Celsius and warm to hot days are the norm throughout the year. Luckily, the cooler nights mean that after a hard day’s workout you can get a sound and comfortable sleep and this, added to the availability of healthy and nutritious meals at the Spa Resort restaurant are all part of the magic at fitness boot camp in Thailand’s Chiang Mai.
